The Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Wood Occupations – Structural Post and Beam Carpentry qualification has been developed for delivery in a working environment; this means you need to be employed to study this qualification. It has been designed to develop and recognise your skills, knowledge and competence so that you can work in Structural Post and Beam Carpentry within the construction industry or progress onto further learning.
The learner will learn key practical skills and knowledge in these mandatory units
– Confirming Work Activities and Resources for an Occupational Work Area in the Workplace
– Developing and Maintaining Good Occupational Working Relationships in the Workplace
– Confirming the Occupational Method of Work in the Workplace
– Designing and Fabricating Structural Timber Connections in the Workplace
– Conforming to General Health, Safety and Welfare in the Workplace
The learner will also learn key practical skills and knowledge in two of the following optional units:
– Producing CAD Setting Out Details in the Workplace
– Slinging and hand signalling the movement of suspended loads in the workplace
– Producing Wood and Wood-based Products Using Computer Numerically Controlled/Numerically Controlled (CNC/NC) Machinery in the Workplace
– Conserving or Restoring Heavy Timber Framework in the Workplace
– Fabricating Post and Beam Components in the Workplace
