Rear Tipping Dumper

The aim of the Course is to:

Provide thorough theory and practical training in the role of the Rear Tipping Dumper operative, enabling candidates to competently and safely carry out the role and pass therelevant NPORS assessments.

Course Summary: 

  • Describe the nature of the sector of industry and their role and responsibilities as a plant operator
  • Name and explain the purpose of principal components, the basic construction, controls and terminology
  • Conform with plant manufacturer’s requirements as per the operator’s handbook, relevant regulatio/legislation
  • Undertake all pre-use checks
  • Configure and set for travel (site and highway)
  • Travel over rough, undulating ground, steep inclines and level surfaces – loaded and unloaded
  • Manoeuvre in confined spaces whilst carrying loads
  • Ensure the suitability of the tipping and loading area
  • Explain actions required for hazards, underground and overhead services
  • Position to receive loads
  • Comply with plant loading procedures
  • Ensure load integrity and security
  • Transfer loads to different locations
  • Discharge loads into trenches and over edges
  •  Maintain safe and tidy working areas
  • Carry out shut down and securing procedures
  • Explain the loading and unloading procedures for machine transporting

On successful completion of the course the candidate will be able to:

  • Identify the basic construction, purpose and function of components and the purpose and use of all controls and gauges
  • Identify and comply with manufacturers’ instructions in accordance with the operator’s handbook, other information sources and applicable legislation
  • Carry out all pre-use and running checks
  • Set the dump truck for site and road travel
  • Travel the dump truck over differing types of terrain, including rough, undulating ground, in a loaded and unloaded state
  • Travel up and down substantial inclines in a loaded and unloaded state
  • Manoeuvre in confined areas using forward and reverse direction, in a loaded and unloaded state
  • Position the dump truck to receive loads
  • Explain precautions to be taken for overhead services and other hazards
  • Comply with loading procedures
  • Ensure load integrity and security
  • Discharge loads into trenches or over edges
  • Place the dump truck in an out of service condition
  • Explain the loading and unloading procedures on and off a transporter

All candidates will complete the NPORS assessment and on successful completion will be issued with an NPORS Operators Card.
