Assessing vocational achievement (Pearson Edexcel Level 3 certificate-QCF)

The Level 3 Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement (QCF) is for learners who assess both occupational competence in the work environment and vocational skills, knowledge and understanding in environments other than the workplace (e.g. a workshop, classroom or other training environment).

 

Any assessor and verifier involved in National Vocational Qualifications (NVQs). Those who deliver these qualifications will need to be qualified to meet the requirements of the NVQ Code of Practice and Sector Skills Councils assessment strategies. Assessors and quality assurance staff who deliver QCF qualifications that use the term ‘NVQ’ in their title, this would also be helpful for teachers in schools who deliver vocational qualifications with applied learning, such as BTEC Firsts and Nationals.

 

This qualification is accredited by Ofqual as being stand alone, is nationally recognised and was developed to meet the requirements of assessing qualifications. It is based on the Learning and Development National Occupational Standards. This qualification offers learners an opportunity to develop their own personal growth and engagement in learning and assessment.

The qualification is awarded on completion of 3 mandatory units. Each unit has specific outcomes which will support the learner to operate as an assessor in vocational education and training.

  • Unit 1 Understanding the principles and practice of assessment
  • Unit 2 Assess vocational skills, knowledge and understanding
  • Unit 3 Assess occupational competence in the work environment

The qualification is worth 15 credits and 84 guided learning hours.

Learners will be assessed via portfolio of evidence.

 

 

 

This qualification is for all learners aged 19 and above who are capable of reaching the required standards. There are no formal entry requirements for learners undertaking this qualification. CDT Ltd will ensure all learners will gain the skills, knowledge and understanding to achieve this qualification successfully.

 

This qualification can help a learner to progress their career as a:

  • Qualified Assessor in further education or training provision
  • Trainer and Assessor in work based learning

 

Practitioners who assess the achievement of competence in a work environment through formal observations, and/or Practitioners who assess achievement in vocationally-related situations, e.g. Classrooms or workshops and who use the following assessment methods: skills tests, assessments in simulated environments, oral and written questions, assignments, projects, case studies and RPL.

Learners may choose to progress onto one of the following related qualifications:

A qualification which supports the learner to progress into being an organisation’s Internal Quality Assurance officer such as Level 4 Certificate in Leading the Internal Quality Assurance of Assessment Processes and it can also lead to progression into the following larger qualifications:

  • Level 3 Certificate in Learning and Development
  • Level 4 Diploma in Learning and Development
  • BTEC Level 4 Certificate in Education and Training (601/1238/4)
